A Master Gardener Moment

A Master Gardener Moment!

Each month there will be a new chapter highlighted from the book The Master Gardener with some excerpts from that particular chapter, along with one of the questions from the Question and Answer section.

Chapter Two
Flower Beds

If my uninvited guest heard me at all he obviously chose to ignore me, for rather than leave, he instead walked over to an arid and hideous patch of ground. Once there he began to study it intently. Here he was, up close and personal, looking upon one of my many sources of humiliation: A failed flowerbed! What should have been a glorious display of blue-ribbon chrysanthemums was instead only a bed worthy of being dug up and put to the fire. They were nothing more than dry, spindly, ghastly sticks of wood!

To say that they were in a sorry condition would be an understatement indeed! But oddly enough, the stranger didn't seem to be offended by their ugliness at all. He knelt down beside them, and while I couldn't hear exactly what it was that he was saying, I did catch bits and pieces. He spoke words like peace...healing...life. But to who in the world he spoke them to, I had no idea. Certainly even a madman didn't talk to flowers, and dreadful ones at that!

More than a little intrigued, I edged my way over to him, hoping to better hear what he was saying. But no sooner did I reach him that he stood and began to make his way to yet another plot of ground, equally as appalling as the last one. This time though he motioned for me to follow....

A Question of Reflection

1) Have you ever experienced a time when someone began to get close to a past event that you had kept hidden away, that you were ashamed of?
